Alarm Diapers Designed to Potty Train Children Quickly

Press Release

June 26, 2012

Two entrepreneurial fathers have developed an innovative system to potty train children, Potty Patrol Alarm Diapers. The aim of the product is to quickly and easily potty train a child while allowing parents the mobility to move onto the next phase of parenthood. The company also seeks to reduce the impact that diapers bring on the earth.

How it works: The parent snaps a Potty Patrol sensor on the front on the child’s diaper, which is automatically activated. Once the sensor detects wetness the alarm alerts parent and child by playing a short siren followed by Twinkle Twinkle Little Star twice. The parent then places the child on the toilet to make a strong connection between cause and effect. The alarm is then ready to be used again on a fresh diaper.

“Sometimes children get confused today by being asked to sit on the potty when they don’t have to go. With our system kids go to the restroom for one reason - to use it,” said Tim Fuhriman, Potty Patrol co-owner. “The system works because Potty Patrol helps the child to make the connection and recognize the need to go to the bathroom.”

In the past, electronic alarms have proven to be effective nighttime toilet training aids to prevent bedwetting. However due to their expense, most parents consider them a last resort. Potty Patrol makes this tool and training technique available and affordable for daytime toilet training, putting it within the reach of parents everywhere.

Potty Patrol Starter Kits contain 24 sensor diapers, an alarm, and a potty training guide. They are available online at www.potty-patrol.com and at www.amazon.com. The company will test market the products at Utah based Macey’s stores, a wholly owned subsidiary of Associated Food Stores Inc.

“Our goal is to help parents and children enter a whole new world of freedom, mobility, and independence,” Fuhriman continued. “We’re excited to help parents manage and kids conquer the potty training process with speed, confidence, and dignity.”
