Salt Lake City – VacationRoost Group Inc. has changed the company’s name to LEISURELINK. VacationRoost acquired LeisureLink in 2013 and consolidated both companies’ B2B product offerings. The current suite of B2B services includes distribution, reservations and technology solutions to drive booking growth for lodging suppliers. The company’s consumer brands (VacationRoost, Hawaiian Beach Rentals, Mountain Reservations) will continue to serve customers directly and will now be a featured part of LeisureLink’s overall distribution network.

Salt Lake City – UNIVERSITY OF UTAH’s DAVID ECCLES SCHOOL OF BUSINESS was selected as one of 11 schools or colleges from nine universities to receive funding from an $11.25 million Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative. The U’s School of Business will receive up to $1.25 million over five years.

Draper – After an 18-month effort, UTAH CORRECTIONAL INDUSTRIES (UCI) certified for the ISO 9001:2008 international standard for quality operations. UCI is a self-sustaining division of the Utah Department of Corrections that provides work opportunities for inmates. The highly sought certification signifies safety, reliability and quality of products and services.

Salt Lake City – DEKRA North America (NA), Inc. acquired all of the JUST EMISSIONS testing locations in Salt Lake City, West Jordan, West Valley, Murray, Midvale and Ogden. The company began operations as DEKRA Just Emissions. 

Salt Lake City – NEWMARK GRUBB ACRES announced the lease of 18,000 square feet of industrial space in the MAXTEC warehouse to CAMOFIRE, an online retailer that specializes in outdoor gear and hunting equipment.

Salt Lake City – ACADEMY MORTGAGE CORPORATION acquired REPUBLIC MORTGAGE HOME LOANS. Republic Mortgage is focused on purchase (vs. refinance) business and operates 44 branches in 12 states, including 10 branches in Utah.

Salt Lake City – MILLER SPORTS PROPERTIES and the UTAH JAZZ entered a five-year partnership agreement with UNIVERSITY OF UTAH HEALTH CARE that will result in access to world-class sports medicine and clinical care expertise and the development of collaborative community relations outreach programs.

Salt Lake City – IPG COMMERCIAL announced its representation of ZAGG, INC., on a 50,000-square-foot office build-to-suit lease at the new View at 72 Office Towers in Murray. Occupancy is targeted for early 2016. ZAGG will occupy the top two floors of the building.

Salt Lake City – The full portfolio of COMCAST BUSINESS’s ethernet services is now available to a number of new businesses along Salt Lake City’s business district along California Avenue. Through the expansion of Comcast’s ethernet network, local businesses now have access to bandwidth of up to 10 Gigabits-per-second (Gbps) and services specifically designed to help companies of all sizes access fast, reliable internet service, network multiple locations or connect their offices to an offsite data center.

Salt Lake City – JSI STORE FIXTURES, INC., a designer and manufacturer of merchandising displays for the supermarket industry, along with the GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, announced plans to open a facility in Utah County and create 87 jobs over the next five years.

Salt Lake City – Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams joined forces to create the HOMELESS SERVICES SITE EVALUATION COMMISSION. This commission, co-chaired by Gail Miller and former Salt Lake City Mayor Palmer DePaulis, will evaluate and consider the best configurations and locations for shelter and other emergency homeless services and assemble a recommendation report to help shape the future of these facilities in Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City – In a first-of-its-kind ranking, the GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT was recognized by American Economic Development Institute (AEDI) and Pollina Corporate as being in the top 10 of state economic development organizations.

South Jordan – SPROUTS FARMERS MARKET opened a store in South Jordan, now its fifth Utah location.

Salt Lake City – During an event in Mainz, Germany, in early December, Utah-based direct sales company ASEA received the “2014 Values Award” from leading EU/German direct sales publication Network-Karriere.

Lake Point – BEEHIVE BROADBAND will donate its Gigabit fiber service to CHURCH & STATE, a nonprofit entrepreneurial resource center located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. The Gigabit service is accessible to all entrepreneurs who access the community-managed resource center on a daily basis.

Salt Lake City – MOUNTAIN WEST SMALL BUSINESS FINANCE, a private non-profit corporation licensed to administer the SBA’s 504 development company loan program in Utah and surrounding mountain states, ranked first in its region out of 17 certified development companies (CDCs) throughout Utah, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. Mountain West saw a 33.4 percent increase in monies lent over 2013.
