The path to success is built on a lot of hard work and a strong drive to achieve, said Utah Business Publisher Tyler Dabo at Thursday’s Forty Under 40 celebration. Dabo said it’s important to honor those people who are innovating and driving the future.
Although being younger can present some challenges, award winners said it was ultimately helpful to their careers. Being younger and working for young business owners sometimes meant that she didn’t know things that might have been limiting, said Lori Morency Kun, director of development at the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.
Matthew Hoffman, Sysnet vice president of sales, said it can also be an advantage in more established industries because you can go in and shake things up.
Finding success in her career has been a matter of always doing the best work possible and putting client needs first, said Alison Beddard, associate broker of office and investment properties with Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce. “Do that every day and you will have clients that love you and projects you’re proud of,” she said.
For others the motivation to do well comes from home. Celestia Carson, senior associate at VCBO Architecture, said she tells her young daughters they can be anything they want to be. So she feels like she needs to work hard and do great things in her career to model it for her children.
