SALVADOR PETILOS was named the executive director of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (DABC). Petilos began his career in Utah government as an internal auditor with the Office of the Legislative Auditor General. He then joined the Utah Department of Administrative Services (DAS) internal audit team, eventually advancing to director of internal audits and later to deputy director. 

MIKE CHASTEEN joined Allegiance as executive vice president of sales and client services. Chasteen brings more than 25 years of high-technology sales and executive management experience to Allegiance. He will direct all sales, channel development efforts and client services.

Richter7 hired SAM STROMAN as senior experiential designer and KAYLAN MALM as the agency’s first director of analytics. Stroman previously taught user-interface courses at Utah State University as an adjunct professor. Malm was previously manager of advanced analytics at a digital advertising agency.

Gov. Gary R. Herbert named BRAD BARBER to the Governor’s Council on Balanced Resources. Barber was formerly the state planning coordinator and has recently worked with The Wilderness Society and The Nature Conservancy, as well as Envision Utah and Kennecott Land as a planning and research consultant.

Method Communications hired JEFFREY DUBOIS, former director at Brigham Young University’s Rulon L. Bradley Public Relations Agency, as an account supervisor. DuBois has experience in public relations and account management.

Holland & Hart attorney JOHN BECKSTEAD was elected to the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers (ACCFL). Membership in the ACCFL is limited to commercial finance lawyers, jurists and academics who have not only achieved preeminence in the field of commercial finance law, but who also have contributed significantly to the education of others in commercial finance law through teaching, lecturing or published writings.

The National Association of Women Business Owners, Salt Lake City Chapter, named CELESTE GLEAVE, president and CEO of FYVE STAR, Inc., the Woman Business Owner of The Year for 2012. Gleave was recognized for her business success and many years of giving back to the community. Her most recent project is SHEROES, a startup non-profit that recognizes women for their outstanding efforts and contributions to society.

Gov. Gary R. Herbert selected the new adjutant general of the Utah National Guard, Brigadier General JEFFERSON S. BURTON, a 30-year military veteran and current assistant adjutant general. Burton will serve a six-year term overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Utah National Guard, which includes 7,000 airman and soldiers based in more than two dozen communities throughout the state.

Clyde Snow Attorney BRENT R. BAKER was appointed to the Utah Securities Commission. Baker brings extensive experience in fraud awareness education as well as white collar defense in matters of securities fraud, having spent more than 10 years serving the SEC in various positions, including senior special counsel.

The board of directors of the Utah Safety Council named JEFFREY HOUGHTON  president. Houghton has been with the Utah Safety Council since 2009, when he was originally hired to fill the role of director of administration.

Attorney BARBARA BAGNASACCO was named Utah’s International Woman of the Year by the International Trade and Diplomacy Office of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. Bagnasacco, a partner in the Salt Lake City office of Ballard Spahr, was recognized for her commitment and contributions in promoting international business and trade between the state of Utah and Europe. Bagnasacco is a founding member and co-host of Utah-Europe Days.

Done To Your Taste Catering appointed ROGER LAWS as the company’s new head chef. Laws began his career at Sundance Resort’s Tree Room in the 1980s and has since worked with Utah’s most skilled chefs. His culinary style combines Rocky Mountain cuisine with international influences. Done To Your Taste Catering has served weddings, corporate events, Sundance Film Festival parties and presidential receptions since 1991.

The Park City Realty Group added DAVID ODELL as a new sales agent. Odell previously worked in Silicon Valley and has since lived in Park City for nearly 10 years. In this role, Odell will be handling new clients and enhancing current client relationships.

Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce hired JACOB C. COX as director of retail in its St. George branch office. Cox has held a variety of positions in commercial real estate such as broker, sales manager, president and partner. Cox comes to Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce from Colliers International | New Mexico.

Town & Country Bank promoted WENDY HOLT and JOHN JONES to senior vice president. Holt joined the bank in 2008 and has served as the bank’s business development officer, as well as manager of its Women’s Banking Group. Jones started at Town & Country as a loan officer in 2008 after moving from Centennial Bank, where he managed its St. George Office.
