Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City (RDA) have released a report detailing the public’s input and vision for the new performing arts center. The report includes an overview of public comments that were gathered from the pre-design phase that took place from September 13, 2012 through November 30, 2012.
The center’s public involvement team implemented an intensive 10-week process to engage a variety of stakeholders through multiple activities in order to gain authentic and representative feedback for the project. Through numerous outreach activities, the project team sought to solicit ideas to enhance the building design and maximize the revitalization of downtown.
The design team received more than 1,300 comments and was able to gain a better understanding of the public’s aspirations for what this theater could do for Salt Lake City.
“By actively listening to community members over the past few months, the project architects have worked to produce a schematic design that proudly reflects our City’s values and priorities,” said Mayor Becker.
Copies of the report are available now for download online at www.newperformingartscenter.org. For more information about the New Performing Arts Center, visit www.utahperformingartscenter.org.
