The Ark of Little Cottonwood, a multi-disorder treatment center, is now able to serve homeless veterans in its new Provo facility at 299 E. 900 South. In addition to homeless veterans, The Ark can treat veterans and members of the general public. The Provo facility is approximately 18,000 square feet and includes 44 beds.
The Ark of Little Cottonwood treats individuals for a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, mood and personality disorders, drug and alcohol dependency, eating disorders and addictive behavior (for a range of topics that includes gambling, sex, pornography and even shopping).
The Ark of Little Cottonwood in Provo is able to provide treatment for former military personnel through an agreement with the Veterans Administration that began in 2010. “Three years ago, the Veterans Administration approached us about its growing need to provide treatment for former military personnel,” said The Ark’s executive director Laura Boberg. “Since then, we have been treating veterans for mood and personality disorders, and behavior and chemical addictions. We’re delighted to be able to treat veterans at our new Provo location. In fact, we can accommodate between 35 and 40 veterans at a time. I believe we’re filling a much-needed service — a service that has not always been available to these American heroes.”
The Ark of Little Cottonwood originally opened in August 1999 in its Sandy location. It relocated to Provo earlier this year from its original location at 2919 Granite Hollow St. in Sandy, Utah.
